One of arguably the best places to feast upon some fine Scottish cuisine from off our shores is not in some fancy eatery but smack bang in the middle of Oban's very busy habourside under the shadow of Hebredian bound ferries, trawlers and kreel boats. But back to that in a second.
It also conveniently provides a handy excuse for us to make the short trip North up the West coast to the beautiful wild coast of Arygyll to explore some of its many sea lochs & isles for a few days. We choose Loch Melfort Hotel as our base(they frequently have good deals plus have three very friendly highland cows!) and make forays over the Atlantic Bridge and onto the Isle of Seil and its quaint village of Ellenabeich to take in the rugged waves lashing her slate outcrops.
We move onto Oban herself for an explore and reward ourselves with a feast of Scottish seafood from the Oban Seafood Hut. A few large driftwood benches and an umbrella or two are the only protection from the West coast elements and it can be a tad wild in these parts on the odd occasion but it is well worth risking the elements for some of the best and most affordable seafood. We might of overdid it a just a wee bit. Just a shame its shut throughout the Winter months or me and my partner would be up more!
A look through my website will show I am a repeat visitor to these parts and we shall merrily be back again.
