North Castlewalls Farm

I went for a little wander up Walls Hill recently. We had set out under a beautiful clear blue sky but a few darting rain clouds came raiding over the Southern horizon and set out shop above our heads to make the day that just a tad more moody and brisk on the hills. Thankfully It's a small walk but it is packed with history & mystery with a sizable but relatively unknown iron age fort at the top along the nearby location of the 1685 Battle of Muirdykes. There is also the abandoned buildings of North Castlewalls Farm which I can only guess must contain some of the very stones and earth it is named after cause there is no fort nor castle remains left in view now but you are left with a tight view back down over much of Renfrewshire and over the Clyde towards Dumbarton and the impressive peak of Ben Lomond far in the distance.
